Just Our Luck

Review
If, like me, you dislike when authors make their heroines too perfect, then have no fear, Just Our Luck is for you. Denise Williams’ latest release is a delightful opposites-attract, marriage-of-convenience romantic comedy. The heroine, Sybil Sweet, is chaotic with a capital C (and HAOTIC). Feeling down on her luck, she buys a lottery ticket in a moment of desperation… only to lose it at a donut shop.
Enter lawful good Kiran Anderson, a former med student on hiatus to care for his sick grandfather’s donut shop. Struggling with a failing business, student loan debt, and his grandfather’s declining health, Kiran is understandably tense enough to risk petrification. Even so, he goes above and beyond to return the winning ticket to Sybil—who, of course, cooks up a rash plan to solve both their problems.
Their chemistry is fantastic. Their character arcs feel earned. Williams writes people you genuinely want to root for, even when they make mistakes. While I personally would have liked Sybil to have a few more wins, the novel was funny and tender throughout. If you're looking for a warm and funny romance between two people who truly deserve to find love, pick up a copy of Just Our Luck.
